Washington D.C. August 18,2022 -The Liberian Ambassador to the United States, His Excellency George S.W. Patten Sr. on July 28,2022 played guest to the Office of International affairs in the American State of Ohio. According to the Columbus Dispatch, several members of the Liberian community in Columbus were also present to discuss partnerships in Agriculture and higher education among others.
Officials of the Ohio State leadership who participated in the meeting included Vice Provost for Global Strategies and International Affairs Gil Latz and Associate Vice Provost Fernando Unzueta along with Adélékè Adéẹ̀kọ́, Interim Chair, Department of African American and African Studies, Humanities Distinguished Professor at Ohio State. Others were Kaitlyn Witsaman of Global Gateways and Natalie Doe, a graduate student in the College of Medicine from Liberia.
The interests of the large Liberian community in Columbus were represented by Alpha Tongor, president of Liberians in Columbus, Inc., Emmanuel Wettee, elder, chairman for All Liberian Dual Citizenship and Joseph Sawo, Federation of Liberians in Ohio
Ambassador Patten thanked the Ohio State leadership for making Liberia a priority in their development plan. He noted that Liberia needed all the help it could get from friendly international partners to boost the Pro-Poor development Agenda of Dr. George Manneh Weah. Patten used the occasion to praise Liberians in Ohio for holding together and living in peace and harmony. He reminded them that they were all default ambassadors of Liberia in their own capacities and cautioned them to always act accordingly and make the motherland proud.
