The Embassy of Liberia on Tuesday, February 7th played host to Indiana Colts wide end receiver Kwity Paye.

The 261lbs, 6-2-foot NFL star and two-man delegation including Creative Artist Miya Ball and Congressional staffer Matthew Fidel were showered with warm wishes by Liberia’s Ambassador accredited near Washington DC, H.E. Jeff G Dowana Sr. and his diplomatic staff in the conference room of the embassy.

Paye was born on November 19, 1998, to a Liberian Krahn mother in a refugee camp in Guinea in the aftermath of the Liberian civil war. Named Kwity after his maternal grandfather, who was killed during the war, his mother brought him and his brother Komotay to Providence, Rhode Island in the United States when he was six months old.

As kids, he and his brother developed a strong love for American and football and the rest is now history.

In brief remarks Kwity said he felt at home at the embassy surrounded by his native kinsmen and especially reminiscing about some native Liberian dishes. He promised to schedule another visit to acquaint himself more with activities at the Embassy. The NFL Star explained that he was on his way to attend President Biden’s annual State of the Nation address at the invitation of Rhode Island Democratic Congressman Seth Magaziner but felt the strong need to stop by briefly.
