Washington DC, July 13, 2023. Liberia’s Chief of Mission accredited to the United States of America, His Excellency Ambassador Extra Ordinary and Plenipotentiary Jeff Gongoer Dowana, Sr., has challenged the Baltimore Sister City, Incorporated, to be more focused as it tries to address the value of its friendship and partnership with Gbarnga City.

Ambassador Dowana made the call on Saturday, July 8, 2023, when he served as guest Speaker at celebrations marking the 50th Anniversary of the Baltimore City (USA), Gbarnga City (Liberia) Sister City Relationship.

“To succeed, this organization must set achievable goals and pursue them with undivided attention” Ambassdor Dowana empathized. He assured the organization of the Liberian Embassy’s unflinching support in all their undertakings. He added, “My office is open to you at all times and so do not hesitate to call when you need to talk”.

The program which was held at SNF Theatre in Baltimore city (USA), was characterized by traditional dances and the honoring of several personalities, who over the years played significant roles in maintaining the Sister City Relations between the two countries.

The Baltimore/Gbarnga sister city relationship was established 50 years ago (1973) in Liberia. In Baltimore, the relationship is managed by the Baltimore-Gbarnga Sister City Committee (BGSSC), while in Gbarnga it is managed by the Gbarnga-Baltimore Sister City Committee (GBSC Liberia).
